Dr. Adane Haile (Associate Professor) Academic Affairs Vice-President, Wachemo University, Ethiopia
The Academic Affairs Vice President of Wachemo University, Dr. Adane Haile, will be on a 15 day visit to India, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand, from December 22, 2017 to January 5, 2018. He will be signing MoU's with several prestigious Universities in areas of mutual interest between Wachemo Universities and other academic institutions. According to the Academic Vice-president of the University, signing of the Memorandum of Understanding is believed to have numerous outcomes. There will be Guest lecturers or Visiting Professors from partnering Universities. Launching Joint or dual degree program and undertaking collaborative research projects in different thematic research areas identified by WCU will be other possible outputs of this initiative. It is also believed that WCU students and academic staffs will have scholarship opportunities to peruse their education at different undergraduate as well as postgraduate programs. In relation to this the AAVP said that, as a part of standardizing and increasing academic staff profile of the University, the office for Academic Affairs Vice-president works aggressively to meet the 0:70:30 ratio, which is to have 70% of Academic staff to have at least Master’s Degree, 30% to be PhD holders and 0% Bachelor holders. To this end, he added, the office has planned around 100 academic staffs to get opportunity to peruse their postgraduate studies abroad by 2018.
Apart from this, the University, he said, will focus on entrepreneurship development and it will be on top priority.
Finally, the Dr. Adane concluded his remark by expressing that 2018 will be a year of transformation for Wachemo University.
