Wachemo University signs MoU with the European Union Delegation in Ethiopia
Wachemo University and The European Union Delegation in Ethiopia signed an agreement on
June 29 th of June 2017 to provide a framework of cooperation and facilitate collaboration in the
areas of mutual interest.
The major Objective of this agreement is to join hands for academic exchanges and cooperation
to extend partnership and to promote collaboration in areas of education, community services
and academic research.
On the occasion, Ergoge Tesfaye, Vice President for Research and community Service,
Wachemo University, made a presentation about the overall activities that the university is doing
in the areas of teaching learning, research and community service areas.
Dr. Tassew Gebre, President of Wachemo University, on his part further stressed that research
and development is decisive for accelerating economic development of a nation and it requires a
joint effort of various stakeholders and development actors. In this regards, he said, WCU
aspires to be one of the research oriented Excellency centers in East Africa with a motto of “Let
your light shine in the Society” dealing with the societal problems and challenges. Consistent
with the national development agenda, the efforts of Wachemo University are geared towards
improving its competitiveness while remaining locally relevant and engaged as a key player for
community development, he added.
