Wachemo University has established Research and Development Directorate under the office of vice president for research and community services with the major goal of undertaking problem-solving research, transferring knowledge for future academic purposes and overseeing other programs that contribute to the prosperity of the country at large. The Research and Development Directorate has identified priority areas of research with the long run view of the prosperity of country based on interventions for further academic and community service activities. Based on focus areas of university, the Directorate has planned to ensure food security and public welfare through agro-processing, sustainable energy, Environmental and climate change, Entrepreneurship and Organizational Transformation, improved access and quality of education, political commitment, Culture, Language and Tourism Development.
In order to facilitate the conduct of research in designated priority research areas, the university has created research and community facilities with skilled and friendly staff to welcome local and foreign researchers. Every year, the directorate office of university makes a research grants call for all academic staff and open for competition at university level. The office builds an interdisciplinary network of research teams by collaborating with other local and international scholars. For fair and mutually beneficial collaboration, the office would like to invite all interested local and international researchers to use our research facility in depth. All researchers are free to select research topics, formulate their own problems, come up with their findings and conclusions to seek support from any source for their research projects. However, the intended research methods should not violate established ethical principles and commitment aimed to safeguard the health, safety, privacy and personal rights of participants and research users.
