Message from Department Head
Welcome to the Department of Psychology
Currently, the psychology department is one of the three departments under the College of Education and Behavioral Science. It was established as one of the departments under the College of Social Science and Humanities in 2006 E.C. (2014 G.C.). The department has been running a B.A. degree in psychology for a regular program. In the past ten-plus years, more than 500 students have graduated in the regular program from the department. The graduates are working in different regions and sectors in various fields, and many of them are M.A. and Ph.D. students in Ethiopia and abroad.
The Department of Psychology aims to produce well-equipped and trained professionals who apply principles, concepts, theories, and practices of psychology and thereby meet the demands of governmental, nongovernmental, and private agencies to carry out quality research on various psychological, educational, and social problems of the community and; to provide the necessary public services to individuals, institutions, and groups regarding concerns and issues about the field of psychology. To do so, the need for different resources and facilities is beyond doubt. Accordingly, to run the program, the psychology department outfitted itself with qualified academicians with various academic ranks (One Ph.D. holder and Three Ph.D. candidate and Eight MA holders) with their specialties.
