Message from the Head of Department
There has been a consensus over the past few years that there is an urgent need to provide the technological requirements of enterprises. Potential employers in the country have demanded information technology (IT) specialists. IT degrees emerged due to the need for more graduates from computer science degree programs who could meet the real needs of enterprises in terms of technology. Computer science places a strong emphasis on the scientific principles and ideas behind computation, which helps to create new computing-related knowledge. In contrast, the subject of information technology is very unique and expanding quickly. It was founded in response to the real, everyday needs of enterprises.
IT is deep-rooted in many sides of governmental, non-governmental, corporate, as well as personal life in Ethiopia. This has increased the need for qualified individuals to assist with administration, integration, customization, troubleshooting, etc.
IT has been perceived by the government as a force that facilitates developmental operations, particularly at the moment. To support this effort, it is required to provide enough manpower.
