Message from the Head of the Department

On behalf of the Department of Medical Laboratory Science, College of Medicine and Health Sciences, Wachemo University, I am pleased to extend my warmest greetings and welcome to all members of our academic and professional community. As department head, I want to inform you about the Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences. The department was launched in 2009 E.C. and has successfully graduated 6 batches of students with a first degree (2009 – 2018 E.C.). From 2009-2018 E.C., it has proudly served students.

Medical Laboratory Science is a dynamic and essential healthcare profession that contributes significantly to disease diagnosis, prevention, treatment monitoring, research, and public health improvement. The department is dedicated to preparing competent, ethical, and innovative laboratory professionals who possess the knowledge, technical skills, and professional values required to address the healthcare needs of individuals and communities.

The Department of Medical Laboratory Science is committed to creating an inclusive, supportive, and innovative learning environment where excellence, integrity, teamwork, research, and lifelong learning are promoted. Through strong collaboration among students, faculty, university leadership, healthcare institutions, and the wider community, we strive to produce graduates who contribute positively to healthcare advancement and societal development.

The department is currently undertaking the process of national accreditation for the Medical Laboratory Science Program to ensure that the program meets established quality standards. We warmly welcome and encourage collaboration with all stakeholders who are willing to contribute to our continuous improvement.
