Program Objectives
General Objective
The program of journalism and communications aims at producing journalists and communications experts who are intellectually rigorous and critical of mind, who respect fundamental human rights, who are tolerant and respect diversities in society, who are committed to social justice in theory and practice, and who are dedicated to integrity and high ethical standards, empowering them with knowledge, skills, and attitude of media and communications in a multi-layered and multicultural world.
Specific Objectives
- To provide knowledgeable and skillful journalists who can attentively serve society properly.
- To produce potential entrepreneurs who can manage and run media firms;
- To create journalists with democratic outlooks and high ethical and moral standards that can contribute their parts to the strengthening of the ongoing democratic processes within the country and beyond
- To provide and enlarge opportunities for teaching at universities for both faculty and students;
- To give professional advice and consultancy services in media and communications areas;
- To assist the continuing education department in designing short-term trainings;
- To ensure the preparation of emerging scholars devoted to research in analyzing contemporary media and communications issues locally, nationally, and internationally.
- To disseminate information, knowledge, and technical media skills to the broader communities.
- To develop a center of resources (human power and expertise, facilities, and technologies, as well as information and references) in the media for national development.
- To ensure the significant roles of media in society, various aspects of mass communications, and media laws and ethics.
