The use of GIS to the project
Database management, visualization, spatial analysis, and spatial modeling are the main uses ofGIS. The
GIS-based analysis has played an essential role for Hossana Town in setting goals and developing strategic
plans for ground problems. Specifically the following are among the mains:
Specific objectives
i. To store, compile, analyze and display land use maps and plans, of socioeconomic and
environmental data that will be collected by the other teams.
ii. Planners can extract useful information from the database through spatial query.
iii. The necessary surface analysis and Mapping provides.
iv. It can be used to analyze the distribution of socioeconomic and environmental data, and display the
results of spatial analysis and modelling exercises..
v. Spatial analysis and modelling are used for spatial statistical analysis, site selection, identification of
planning action areas, land suitability analysis, land use/cover analysis, and impact assessment.
