The Department of Anesthesia under the College of Health Sciences in Wachemo University is an academic unit which was established in 2015 to alleviate the shortage of qualified anesthetists Ethiopia has been facing. The department has aimed on increasing the enrollment of students in particular from Ethiopia. It offers B.Sc program for undergraduate students. Currently there around 88 students in the department.
