👑 Program Goals

To equip midwives with a comprehensive blend of knowledge, skills, and attitudes, and to prepare competent graduate midwives for their professional roles in society.

📋 Objectives of the Midwifery Program

General Objective

The general objective of the program is to produce a high-level workforce equipped with adequate knowledge and skill to design and implement the activities indicated in the prospective graduate profile.

Specific Objectives

The program will have the following specific objectives in the undergraduate program of Midwifery Sciences:

  • Provide students with basic and applied knowledge and skills of maternal and newborn care, reproductive health, family planning, obstetric emergency management, and neonatal nutrition & health principles.
  • Enable students to understand and realize problems in maternal and child health and seek solutions through exposure to research, community health extension, and clinical management.
  • To provide midwifery students with public health competencies to promote and protect the sexual, reproductive, and maternal health of women and their families.
  • Provide students with the knowledge of handling pregnant women, newborns, and postnatal care.
  • Integrate teaching-research activities with community health extension activities to extend new, improved maternal and child health technologies to communities and health facilities.

Skills labs for simulation of normal delivery, obstetric emergencies, newborn resuscitation, and family planning procedures.

🗺️ Clinical Training Sites

Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with hospitals, health centers, and community clinics for comprehensive hands-on midwifery practice.
