The objectives of the department

The objectives of this department are:-


  • To acquaint students with a solid understanding of the essence of public administration, management and administrative theories, organizational behavior, public personnel management, and labor relations, policy analysis and implementation, strategic management, public financial management, project formulation, monitoring and evaluation, and other administrative and development issues to enable them to effectively apply and utilize these theories and concepts in public and nonprofit organizations;
  • To develop the analytical skills of students in describing, relating, identifying relationships, analyzing, and interpreting how public administration delivers public services;
  • To equip students with the required knowledge, skills, and attitudinal/behavioral competencies to enable them to act ethically in the administration of public sector organizations;
  • To develop conceptual and analytical skills of students in policy analysis and implementation, program/project formulation, public finance and budgeting, monitoring and evaluation;
  • To prepare students for a mid-level professional career that involves managing and administering human, material, financial, and information resources of organizations at various levels of governments and non-governmental organizations, parastatals, and other agencies;
  • To equip students to develop structures that would respond to managerial, political, legal, and ethical concerns;
  • To develop the knowledge and skills of students in decision-making, administrative communication, leadership, change management, and conflict resolution to enable them to run public organizations effectively and efficiently; and
  • To prepare students for graduate and professional studies in public administration and other related programs.
